CS473 Social Computing / 2025 Fall
Course Description
Social computing systems connect all sorts of users within neighborhoods and across the globe, from friends, co-workers, fans, information-seekers, potential dating partners, and more. This course will cover the principles of designing social computing systems that are effective and aligned with user needs through a combination of readings, a course project, and a final exam.
Prerequisites: Though there is no official prerequisite, students are strongly encouraged to have previously taken CS374 or a similar introductory HCI class. The term project will require building web-based user interfaces, so some fluency in programming is needed.
